NUS is Singapore’s flagship university and is one of the top-ranked universities globally. Each year, NUS launches an Admissions campaign highlighting about 10 young alumni who have excelled in their respective fields, serving as inspiration to new blood. The goal is to capture environmental portraits of these accomplished individuals based on their area of expertise and personal passion.
I was first hired for this project in 2018. The following year, I was rehired, and then again after that. For the next 7 years, I worked on the annual campaign and made it my personal mission to continually improve upon the photos from the previous year. Working on this project allowed me to challenge my ways-of-working and improving my techniques as I shoot one subject after another and move from one location to another, year after year. Most of the photo shoots I do now are a by-product from what I’ve learned during my years working on this project.
Below are some of the images I have photographed over the last 7 years with the National University of Singapore:
Big thanks to Arlene, Candy, Xin Ni, Shawn, and Tiffany for their trust. Special thanks to Matthew, Melvin, Zexun, and Renjie for their continued help and assistance. You are all rockstars!
