I was commissioned by PEI Group to photograph PERE’s US roundtable discussion in their New York City office. The shoot list included solo portraits of each participant prior to the discussion and in-action photographs during the discussion.
I’ve always been comfortable capturing in-action shots because back when I started photography as a hobby, I used to do street photography in Singapore, where I tried to capture interesting scenes from everyday moments.
The roundtable participants include Eric Wurtzebach (Global head of real estate, Macquarie Asset Management), Ryan Krauch (Senior managing director, Affinius Capital), Justin Gleason (Managing director and US core-plus portfolio manager, PGIM Real Estate), Stephen Rabinowitz (Co-chair, global real estate practice, Greenberg Traurig), and Kyle Jeffers (Chief investment office, ACORE Capital).
As always, I arrived an hour early at the location to do a quick recce, set up the lights, and do some test shots. As the guys turn up one at a time, I do quick solo headshot sessions around the office, then they move into the meeting room for the roundtable. After which, they proceeded to the conference room where I discreetly photographed them as they went about their roundtable discussion.
Below are the solo headshots I took prior to their discussion.

After shooting their portraits, I then went into ‘fly-on-the-wall’ mode as I photographed them during their roundtable discussions. I didn’t want to be a distraction, so I tried my best to be as discreet as possible.
After the shoot, I packed my equipments, walked to the train station, and took the Amtrak back to DC. The shot went well, I’d say. Huge thank you to Lee an Denise for the continued trust!
